INDIAN ECONOMY amidst COVID-19

Image
COVID-19, has happened to the New Normal in the lives of people around the globe. It could be said that, the world is facing humanity’s biggest crisis since World War II. Almost every country has been affected by the devastating Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). An outbreak from China has gone everywhere. Till date, over 1.5 million people had been affected by COVID-19 worldwide. Indirectly, billions of people have been suffering from the impact of the global pandemic of COVID-19.  Undeniably, this coronavirus has put the world economy at a major risk. The virus has ravaged the economic foundations of world trade. Few critics have observed this outbreak as an outcome of de-globalisation. Due to this, the world is already facing a downturn and global losses, a few experts have also commented that this hyper-globalization may exceed the effect caused by World Wars I and II. Most of the estimates of the economic loss show that the world is already in an economic ...

Learning to say a “NO” as an Entrepreneur

Image
Have you ever noticed how many times a week you say “yes” to a person or project, only to end up regretting your decision?  Of those commitments how many were actually in lines with your business priorities?  If you fear rejection, it can come at a high cost: missed milestones, losing clients, physical exhaustion, irritability and stress. Being unable to speak up at work can have long-lasting negative consequences.  When your default setting is to say YES to each and every request that come across your way, you lose focus, which only pushes you further away from your goals. As an entrepreneur, you simply can’t afford that. “For every person who climbs the ladder of success, there are a dozen waiting for the elevator.” For an instance Mr. Harvey, a small-time investor for a startup business failed to click, bouncing along much like his former career -- going nowhere. He either gave in to keep the peace with his customers and employees or lost patience and...

Why women in leadership makes sense

Image
Women make great leaders, and we need more of them ‘ The world is in need of great leaders ’ is a clichéd line.  Surprisingly, many businesses cut out their chances of having a great leader at helm by half, by focusing only on male candidates. Since leadership is all about inspiring and enabling the team, enterprises with women leaders at the helm have been at the forefront of adopting newer perspectives. Why? How does women leaders bring much more to the table than just their management skills? 1. Greater ability to multitask Women have traditionally been better at handling multiple tasks effectively. Managing home and work is part of a regular day for most working women. This ability to multitask can be an asset especially in a leadership role where handling multiple channels can become stressful. From handing strict deadlines to bargains and negotiations, having a woman in a leadership role offers her the opportunity to use her natural traits and skills ...

Brand Activism: Is it different than CSR?

Image
Snap back to the year 2017 when Virat Kohli turned down a multi-million endorsement deal for a soft drink brand. The sports star did not believe in endorsing something he was not consuming personally. What the Indian captain decided had in it sparks of ‘activism’ leading to an even deeper trust with his millions of followers and fans. Somewhere out there, a young child wanting to emulate the star player was also more likely to follow a healthier lifestyle as a result. What Virat Kohli did may have been his personal choice; but brands across the globe are increasingly adopting a similar ‘activist’ policy. 76% of consumers in a recent research poll admitted that they were less likely to purchase from a brand which acted contrary to their beliefs . Smart brands and enterprises have been quick to correlate this trend focusing on brand activism. Brand activism is what ensures a communion of profitability and ethics. Brands are today engaging head on various social, economic, p...
