Strategies to Take Your Recruitment Game to the Next Level in 2023

A set of questionnaire or a written form/assignment followed by a one-on-one or telephonic interview that finally welcomes a candidate on-board – the standard recruitment process has become stale. No wonder it seems like drudgery for both recruiters as well as job applicants.

When the landscape is so tough, what is your best chance at securing that ideal candidate for your company? Make your recruitment strategies as innovative as possible! Here are some tips that will take your recruitment game to the next level.

1.       Meet your candidates right where they are

To find relevant candidates, you need to go exactly where they are online. For this, search for websites where most candidates that suit your needs are accustomed to frequent. Don’t forget to look at places you would not normally look at.

You might often be in the habit of looking at blogs, social media, as well as recruitment websites. What you can additionally do is now start frequenting forums and other online discussion boards as well. This is important because such places will help you get involved in conversations that matter.

You can easily tell candidates who you are and what you are looking for. Ask them questions about their career goals, get to know them better, and gradually connect with them if you find someone to be a suitable fit for your company. You can even go through different message boards and industry blogs so as to find out candidate conversations in less formal settings. These can later be incorporated in your candidate searches.

2.       Make good use of videos and authentic messages

Instead of using just a single line of content, be creative and make use of different types of content such as fun videos to take your mobile recruiting to the next level. This will do wonders in drawing in the right candidate because if a picture is worth a thousand words then surely a video will have a much greater impact.

You can even include these videos in your social media posts to attract the right candidates. Posting such videos will give candidate a taste of what it would be like to work for the company. Make sure the video looks fun but also is realistic to the work culture you promote every day.

If candidates consider themselves to be a good fit for your company, they will themselves come flocking to you for job opportunities. Moreover, they will also have a clear idea of what to expect as a part of your company.

3.       Get in touch with previous candidates

It often happens that when a candidate is rejected, recruiters tell them that they will keep them in mind for positions that might open up in the future. But unfortunately they never do remember to do so. In most cases, candidates receive no such notification.

So, next time, when you tell a candidate that you will keep them in mind for future positions, follow through with that offer when the time comes. This might not only help you find the right fit but  will also give the candidate the impression that you are a leader who keeps their word (very important when it comes to setting an example for the employees).

For this, you can refer to the list of candidates who were shortlisted for the final rounds and contact them alone. Let them know the type of position that is opening up and ask if they’d be interested. In case of a recruiting software, make use of the database of previous candidates and reconnect with them.

4.       Group setting interactions are very useful

Today is the day and age of innovation, and you’d do good to incorporate the same in your recruiting process. Switch things up a bit. How? Well, where typically you would conduct one-on-one interviews or even hire a recruitment committee, this time, consider interacting with candidates in a group setting as well.

Interactive interviews are a must because your employees will not be working in isolation but as a group. So, such a setting will help you analyse a lot of their soft skills such as character, communication, interpersonal, level of genuine interest in the work, and more.

You can either have the candidates interact with each other in a group setting or have them interact with some of your current employees. This will also help you understand which candidates are the best culture fit for your company.

Winding up

The job market is becoming more challenging than ever, especially for recruiters because there are more job openings than workers today. So, to ensure that your company bags the ideal candidate, you need to ensure your recruitment strategies are a step ahead of similar players in the pool.
